Matt Druker loses his girlfriend and his job. As a boy, he lost his Catholic faith years ago when his father died and a young priest was transferred.
Now bored and unemployed, he drifts back to the church that he abandoned. The local pastor of St. Theresa’s, Monsignor Pierre Leclerc, grapples with a growing parish and a crumbling church. Matt decides he wants to help. With the help of a softball buddy who works for the archdiocese, he becomes Father Philip McCarty who claims to have been trained in Ireland .
Once in the rectory, Father McCarty’s energy has boosted weekly donations. He befriends a young boy whose mother he finds quite attractive. McCarty’s popularity catches the eye of Cardinal Laverty who wants to meet this rising star. McCarty/ Druker wants to fulfill his goal of helping Monsignor Leclerc and avoid being caught as a fraud.
Does he have a prayer?
